Artist Profile - The Bandit Kings
BIO: The Bandit Kings are an alt. country/rock/pop band with two female lead vocalists, a vintage jangle sound and modern rock rhythms. Based out of Boston/New England, they debuted March 2010, were immediately booked at Boston club, Tommy Doyle's in Harvard Square and had their original hits Laredo and Show Me the Stars Tonight featured and replayed on Boston’s 92.5 WXRV The River—both recorded at good friend Tony Goddess' Bang-A-Song Studios (Papas Fritas). They have since played multiple clubs in Boston and around New England including TT the Bears and the Plough and Stars in Cambridge and the House of Blues in Boston. The Bandit Kings just celebrated their second full-length CD release, Epic Hello, and, in association with Lovestuck Productions, they recently trekked cross-country for the second time as a band to Los Angeles to play Molly Malones and Saint Rocke. With a banner turnout, the Bandits easily proved their abilities to wow on both coasts. Epic Hello, Live in Los Angeles (last year's live recordings from The Mint in Hollywood). and Precious Stones are currently available at iTunes, Amazon, and CDbaby. FEATURING: Renee Dupuis on lead vocals and keys, Ann Marie, also on lead vocals, rock all-stars Dennis Monagle on drums, Joe Cardoza on bass, and Dan King on lead guitar. The band has found bare-bones musical chemistry, including the rich meld of vocalists Ann Marie and Dupuis, who “both have voices that bring us back to the dawn of country rock, whisky soaked and raspy in just the right places while never crossing into the overpowering.” (Boston Band Crush) PRECIOUS STONES: First single, Show Me the Stars Tonight, combines a country twang with rolling guitar and conspiratorial song-play by lead singers, Ann Marie and Renee Dupuis. Call it Alt. Country, Jangle Rock, Cowpunk, Rock/Pop/Indie, or what have you, the album is full of surprises and thoughtful originality—from the wild roar of The Jerker, to the steady mantra of GoGoGo. Also on the album are fan favorites Threads and Over, as well as radio hit Laredo, all emphasizing moody harmonies and honest homages to love, heart-crush, and moving on. The album’s special ingredeient is a mixture of Ann Marie's spine tingling raw rasp and Renee's dreamy intimate delivery.
